There are a number of flea markets operating on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays in Singapore. The oldest one is probably Clarke Quay (Suns only, 10 am to 6 pm) but now most have moved over to China Square (Suns only 10 am to 6 pm) or Far East Square (Sats , Suns and public holidays 1230 pm to 8 pm). China Square and Far East Square are just beside each other and Clarke Quay is a 15 minutes walk away next to the Singapore River. There is one more out on Orchard Rd in Tanglin Mall (Suns only 10 am to 6 pm). Flea markets sell the usual sort of things : Antiques , arts and crafts , jewellery , used and new clothing , bric a brac , stamps , coins , toys , and all sorts of unusual things sometimes not seen in the shops. Prices are sometimes lower than that found in shops. However, try to go in between the stated times because sometimes they set up later or pack up earlier. If you are pressed for time and can only go to one flea market, try the China Square/Far East Square one on Sundays as they are currently the biggest and best one and also they are right in town beside the Raffles Place MRT subway station as well as near the Singapore River on one side and Chinatown on the other side. Singapore unlike Bangkok does not have a daily flea market except Sungei Road (every afternoon 1 pm to 7 pm) but Sungei Road is more like a flea market for the immigrant and work permit workers from China, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, etc. Its more on the low end worker stuff like used shoes , used clothing, used cooking pans, rubbish bin pick-ups, etc. One more tip: Bring cash - credit cards are no good here! Here's a list of the usual ones :- Sungei Road Thieves' Market What: As many as 488 vendors selling items ranging from decades-old Atari consoles and army boots to the latest mobile phones and VCDs. Where: Along Pitt Street, Larut Road and Pasar Lane. The boundaries are marked by Jalan Besar, Weld Road, Sungei Road and Kelantan Road; 1 to 7pm daily. Getting there: Take the MRT North-East Line to Little India Station. It's a 10-minute walk away. How to rent a space: No rent. Just be there early to set up shop. Tanglin Mall Flea Market What: 54 vendors selling mostly second-hand clothing and other knick-knacks such as watches, musical instruments and toys. Where: Along the walkway outside Tanglin Mall shopping centre; 5 to 11pm every first and third Saturday of the month; and every Saturday during the June and December school holidays. Getting there: It's a 15-minute walk from Orchard MRT station. Cost to rent a space: Vendors pay $50 for a seven-by-four foot lot. China Square Central Flea Market What: Toy collectors will have a field day here. Shoppers can also expect to find other items such as bags, old bank notes and movie memorabilia. Where: On the first and second storeys of China Square Mall; Every Sunday, 10am to 7pm. Getting there: About five minutes' walk from Chinatown MRT station. Cost to rent a space: It costs $38 for two tables. Kampong Gelam Car-boot Sales And Flea Mart What: Over 50 vendors selling second-hand and brand new clothes and jewellery. Where: Open carpark at Aliwal Street; 10am to 6pm, every third Sunday of the month. Getting there: It's a 10-minute walk from Bugis MRT station. Cost to rent a space: The public can rent a parking lot for $30. Clarke Quay Flea Market What: 45 vendors selling items such as handicraft, household items and antiques. Where: Along the walkway at Trader's Market Block E; Every Sunday, 9am to 7pm. Getting there: A five-minute walk from Chinatown MRT station. Cost to rent a space: Each space costs $10. Zouk Flea & Easy Market What: You can find second-hand clothes, bags and shoes and local designers selling their self-designed T-shirts there. Where: Zouk, 17 Jiak Kim Street; Held sporadically on Sundays, from 2 to 7pm. Getting there: Take bus no. 16 from Orchard MRT Station. Cost to rent a space: Each space costs $20. Timberlux Centre Flea Carnival What: It's fashion heaven, with over 200 vendors selling clothes, shoes and accessories, both brand-new and second-hand. Where: Timberlux Centre, 326, Havelock Road; Held sporadically, from noon to 8pm. Getting there: Take bus no. 123 from Somerset MRT Cost to rent a space: Each space costs $30 for a day, or $50 for both days. Ethnic Flea Market What: Up to 30 stalls selling second-hand clothes, books and ornaments. Cultural items such as traditional costumes are encouraged. Where: Central Singapore Joint Social Service Centre open-air amphitheatre next to Blk 116, Toa Payoh Lorong 1; held sporadically from 5 to 9pm. Getting there: Less than three minutes' walk away from Braddell MRT Station. Cost to rent a space: $25 for a stall Know of any other's not listed here?
